Get a career in math -- a mouseclick away

01 Jan 2018

I like automatic generators of various kinds. Once I enterained the thought of coding a generator that would take a data set, pull out a random selection of variables, pick an analysis method by random, do the analysis on a couple of different ways, and auto-write a pseudo-paper on the analysis.

Here are a few interesting examples of generators (several in Norwegian):

  • The svadagenerator generated meaningless politic-bureaucratic sentences, but has now been extended to produce different forms of svada.

  • MathGen can give you a career in mathematical research.

  • The Postmodernist generator is a classic.

  • A Web economy bullshit generator is simple, but for those who remember Y2K and the Stimmung around the web at the time, it is nevertheless enjoyable.

  • At balsamia.com there are several interesting pieces.

    • Their showcase is Nordnorsk vitsegenerator, your leading resource for northern norwegian humour since 1998.
    • There are also others, including a fisherman’s horoscope and a recipe generator.
